Time flies. It seems like only yesterday, when the harmonized standard EN 1090-1 of bearing steel structures started to apply in Europe and the obligation of the CE marking emerged. All manufacturers of constructional steel structures almost panicked - what should we do now? We needed to certify our welders, welding engineer was needed, it was necessary to create procedures and do more non-destructive inspections. All this happened in 2011.
Today, 6 years have gone by, but unfortunately many of the companies on the market still have not been able to bring their production in line with necessary standards. For the VMT Tehased the certification process was successful already on the first time, because following quality standards and working on improving the standards has belonged to our day to day business from the beginning. In 2012 we were the sixth company in Europe that was audited by the German certification authority, TÜV NORD. When we first started the dialogue with the certifiers, we were told, that the implementation class 2 is the highest they can give to us on the first certification. However, after visiting us in our factory in Viljandi, they confirmed our quality implementation to be at level 3. It should be noted that at level 3, which allows to build load-bearing structures for bridges and multilevel buildings, the risks are extremly high and the quality control has to be extra rigorous.
This November certificates were once again renewed by the German TÜV NORD Certification Center. We have received good feedback on the work done so far and now certificates have been extended for the next three years. VMT Tehased not only aims to keep its level of quality, but to constantly improve the systems to enhance the safety and overall quality of our structures even further.
